Until You Are Found Foundation was formed because families in our communities kept facing the same gap: the search needed more hands, more coordination, and more sustained attention than anyone could organize alone. We exist to close that gap.
Until You Are Found Foundation was created by Danielle Schmidt after years of seeing families face one of the most devastating experiences imaginable — the disappearance of someone they love.
Through assisting families, following leads, organizing searches, and advocating for missing persons, Danielle saw a need for an organization that would stand beside families when they often feel overwhelmed, unheard, and unsure where to turn.
She created Until You Are Found Foundation with one simple belief: when someone goes missing, the search should not stop simply because time has passed.
What began with a desire to help individual families has grown into a mission to provide support, investigative assistance, search coordination, resources, and advocacy for missing persons and their loved ones.

Until You Are Found Foundation believes that missing-person and cold-case investigations benefit from collaboration, persistence, and multiple avenues of investigation.
UYFF is an independent nonprofit organization. We are not a law-enforcement agency, and we do not attempt to replace, direct, or interfere with official investigations.
Our work may include independent investigative research, reviewing publicly available information, developing and following up on leads, conducting case research, assisting families in organizing information, coordinating volunteer search efforts, and arranging searches when appropriate.
We respect the authority, responsibilities, and investigative role of law enforcement. When our work intersects with an active law-enforcement investigation, we make every effort to communicate and coordinate appropriately, share relevant information, and avoid actions that could compromise an official investigation or the integrity of evidence.
At the same time, UYFF is not limited to searches or investigative assistance specifically requested by law enforcement. With the involvement and consent of families, we may independently research cases, pursue legitimate leads, organize volunteer search efforts, and coordinate resources that may assist in locating a missing person or developing information relevant to a case.
Our independent work is not intended to compete with law enforcement. It is intended to add another layer of support and advocacy for families who are searching for answers.
We believe that law enforcement, families, search teams, investigators, volunteers, and community members can each contribute different resources and perspectives.
When appropriate, information developed through our work can be shared with the appropriate authorities.
